Don't run your biz the way everyone else tries
I was lucky enough to work with some high-level operators early on in my biz journey.
And honestly, writing copy for a client doing 7 figures my first year as a solopreneur was pretty daunting at times. But it sure was an expedited education. Seeing how the sausage was made in that particular biz quantum-leapt me forward in terms of knowledge.
Not theory. Knowledge.
When you see many takes on the timeline, it's not earned wisdom. It's parroted from whoever is out there actually doing shyt. It's different to having someone explain how on a video course - actually seeing someone do it in real-time is an education you can't buy. That's why everyone on Money Twitter is a business genius, but most are dead broke.
But I digress.
Whilst the idea of a 7-figure business gets most salivating, including yours truly... The way I've seen it done just didn't suit me. Hiring and expanding, sales calls, chasing clients... I've already spent over half a decade banging phones as a recruiter, and I'm not in any rush to go back to that life anytime soon.
So, in no particular order, here is a non-exhaustive list of counterintuitive core tenets of my business philosophy for you to ponder upon and pilfer, if you so desire:
Email is king
Barriers to entry are good
Actively weed out the uncommitted
Make your believers work for the lesson
Make non-believers think twice before crossing you
High prices. Whatever you're thinking is high... higher.
Limited access. Whatever you're thinking is limited... more limited.
Boring consistency - It ain't pretty, but it works
Respect your audience's intelligence
Entertain first, teach second
Black sheep mentality
Sell your sawdust
Blunt honesty
Now, a word of warning.
If you are looking to get to 7 figures as fast as humanly possible... these may not be for you. (And honestly, if you're of the impatient persuasion... nothing I teach can help you.) Most of these concepts are not new, nor can I claim to have created them.
But if, like me, they resonated with you and the business you're trying to build... you're in the right place.
If you'd like to deploy a little contrarian spirit in your own business, but don't know where to start?
