Hunting long pig

If you read this subject line and decided you wanted more, you're either a loyal soldier in the army of Don Domingo...

Or you long for the taste of human flesh, Papua New Guinea-style.

(No judgement if that's you, playa, but that's not what I'm about.)

For the uninitiated, long pig is what the streets call human meat. But your old pal Jimmy hasn't suddenly become a cannibal...
I'm talking about hunting down some bidniz.

I was on a call with the DR Demon Thom Benny just the other night, getting his advice on my biz, and the topic of outreach dominated the conversation. The long and the short of it? I can't just sit here and build my list - that's the long-term play. And neither can you.

In the short term, you need to be pounding the pavement like a predator, searching for people you can help make more money. Because if you can make them more money, they ain't gonna have any trouble cutting you a slice of it.

But for whatever reason, I've always been averse to the idea of digital door-knocking, cap in hand, begging for a crumb of biznizz. My approach has always been to attract, not chase. I don't want to go from having a boss in a 9-5 to having multiple bosses in the form of clients. I want to write for my business, not someone else's.

But something Thom said changed my perspective:

'James, there's always a client.'

And in one sentence, my reactionary 'I only want to write for myself' mindset from too many years of having a corpo boss was shattered.

Goddang it. You right, Thom, you right.

Right now, you, my dear subscriber... you're the client. I work for you. I'm here to serve you. I'll always be writing for someone else. For you, for a client, it doesn't matter.

Plus, the additional benefit I had overlooked - the more client work you do, the more authority, experience, and credibility you gain to sell your own offers. Deep down, I've known for a while now that it's the missing piece of the puzzle. I've successfully delivered a service to inbound leads, sold my own products... but the thing to take my biz to the next level is the thing I've been avoiding - as is always the case.

So all this to say...

I'm turning to the dark side and starting with outreach.

There's no better place to start than here and no better time than now. So if you currently have your own list and offers... and you know you're not making the most of them?

Email me with the phrase 'PRIVATE CLIENT', and I'll be in touch with how we can make more moolah together.

James Perkins

P.S. If you'd like to profit from my descent into the darkness, I'm hiring bounty hunters. If you put me in touch with a client I end up working with, I'll pay ya, and I'll pay ya well.
