Never let them see you bleed

There's a popular piece of "advice" that gets thrown around a lot on the old bird app, and it boils down to showing your failures to appear more relatable - the ol' zero-to-hero transformation.

While this might encourage the unfortunate souls who consider themselves losers in your audience, I've never quite understood the logic for anyone other than a hopeless grifter to use this strategy.

If your target market is losers in pain who are desperate enough to pay an internet goo-roo to turn their lives around... then go right ahead, I guess. But around these parts, we have a little something called integrity, regardless of how profitable it might be to prey upon the new fodder in the MLM that is online coaching.

The problem I have with this strategy for anyone other than a goo-roo?

The stories of struggle, of addiction, of overcoming the embarrassingly avoidable shyt that these people put out on the internet for all to read...

They strip away the aura of competence.

Sure, you appear more relatable... and lots of people like that. But not a lot of people want to pay a guy just like them. So, in my not-so-humble opinion...

You need to be cultivating a myth around yourself.
